Various Top 5’s

10-04-2005

1. Serenity

It has been called the best genre movie of 2005. Imagine a mash up of Star Wars and a Western. Serenity started off as a short lived TV show called Firefly on Fox. The show and the movie were both created by Joss Whedon. Who also created Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel franshises. You may not give it a chance if you don’t like sci-fi movies but that doesn’t really do it justice. Give it a chance you might be surprised.

2. Wolf Parade- Apologies to the Queen Mary
(Mp3 Shine a Light)
Sometimes when a band sounds like a mixture of contemporaries it either feels stale or it can draw enough on them to give it a fresh sound without feeling unfamiliar. Wolf Parade does the later. They sound like a mixture of Modest Mouse and The Arcade Fire. Its helps that Apologies was recorded by Isaac Brock who is the singer for Modest Mouse. It helps that Wolf Parade is also from Montreal home of the Arcade Fire. This will be one of the bands that everybody will be talking about for the rest of the year. It might get annoying but don’t let that fool you they deserve it.

3. Arrested Development – Forget Me Now’s

If you know me well then you how much I love Arrested Development. We are 3 episodes into the new season and it is already becoming as classic as the 2 seasons before it. This episode had one of the most amazing characters names I had ever seen. Bob Loblaw (pronounced Blah Blah Blah). I laughed for minutes about the genius of the name. Not to mention that it was played by Scott Baio who replaced Henry Winkler as the family attorney. Which when you think about it was Chachi replacing the Fonz just like he did somewhat on classic show Happy Days. Bob Loblaw even made mention of how he skewed towards a younger market. This show could probably make my top 5 every time it is on and it will make it many more times I am sure.

4. Medium Shoes- Medalist
I heard about Medium shoes about a month ago. As soon as I saw the design of them I instantly fell in love. They make shoes much like Steve Madden or Sketchers but they look a lot classier. I think I have found a new favorite shoe company that I will try to buy a different pair every time I need new shoes which is usually once every 6-8 months. They are extremely comfortable and have a great design. With some luck I found that you can purchase some models at Zappos for less then you can on the Medium Website.

5. Nokia 6101
I have never had a really nice cellphone. Even once I got own my own plan I got the cheapest free cell phone they had and it lasted me about 2 years. I got this phone just in time. My old phone had started shutting off on me and dying a really quick death while I was changing over the numbers in to the new phone. The 6101 is a great phone with lots of features. The only disappointments were what came on it. The ringers weren’t very good and neither were the wallpapers. Unfortunately I haven’t figured out how to make my own mp3 ring tones so I had to buy one from T-Mobile. Overall I am really happy with my purchase and would recommend it as an upper priced phone without going broke.
